To Trend or Not To Trend

Bridal Gown trends are always a hot topic and this year is no exception! The trends of 2010 where Bridal Gowns are concerned are among the best we’ve seen this side of the new Millennium. Designers have brought us new concepts in fabric, detail, texture and styling, creating a vast collection able to meet the expectations of any bride. Fabrics are luxurious - from smooth satin and silk satin, to airy chiffon and romantic silk organza. Many designers have allowed the fabrics to speak for themselves by playing up pleating and soft ruching. Others add focused details, such as floral elements accented with crystal beading, lace to add texture or beading specifically placed to highlight the architecture of the gown. Straps are once again in the spotlight. One shoulder gowns pair a contemporary feel with flattering asymmetry. Vintage inspired straps adorned with Swarovski crystals, silver embroidery and delicate beadwork lend a timeless elegance and highlight shoulders beautifully. Going with the flow also takes on a completely new meaning with gowns styled in chiffon. These dresses have empire line detailing and soft, flowing skirts with an ethereal feel.
All in all, the trends in Bridal for 2010 represent a wide variety of styles. Some appeal to you simply on the basis of being new and different, others truly highlight your personal style. When considering a trend it’s important to be sure you’re choosing a gown that expresses your clothing personality and gives the feeling you want when you walk down the aisle. Don’t choose a gown on the premise that the hottest new look is a must have. Bridal gowns aren’t like our everyday clothes. If we wear a pair of skinny jeans to a party, only to find out we hate the way we look in pictures, we toss the jeans and choose more wisely for the next night out. Your wedding day is the beginning of the rest of your life and you’ll have the pictures for a lifetime. Work with a bridal salon you trust, one you feel cares about your happiness and has suggestions that make sense. As an owner of Treasures Formals & Bridal right here in Roswell, my best advice is to choose a style because you love it. Twenty years from now you’ll look back loving it every bit as much as the day your footsteps graced the aisle. Walk towards the man of your dreams, wearing the dress of your dreams.
